So long, farewell...

It's time for me to say goodbye. This class has been very interesting. I am by no means tech savvy but I am more aware of technology options to use in my classroom and in my daily life. I have already created a Wiki site for my staff to use, but that no longer exist because the university has decided to use Blackboard as the resident assistants form of communication! I have used multiple other techniques that I have learned in this class with my other class projects. I feel comfortable in my technology abilities but I still need to learn the ropes of using a Smart-Board. So long, farewell...

iMovie is Finished!

My iMovie is finally finished! What a relief. It took me multiple attempts until I finally had my final project (with still shots). Then, I saved it as a DVD. Turns out I was supposed to save it as a QuickTime file. I was nervous I wouldn't be able to fix it but the people who worked at The Studio were very helpful. I now feel very comfortable making an iMovie. I want to make an iMovie for my family for Christmas presents next year (cheap but sentimental). Overall, I would say if you have someone who as the time to walk you through how to use iMovie go for it, but trying to figure it out on your own is very difficult. Now, I just need to find out how to use Imovie with vido footage which I plan on doing this week for another school project. I will see how much more challenging the video footage is to work with compared to still shots.

Wiki Wiki What

I recently finished updating all of my Wiki entries.   I think the Wiki will serve as a good resource when I am out in the teaching field, but I am not sure how long I will have access to the Wiki.  It was a little frustrating updating the Wiki because so many people had different ways of organizing the Wiki and I was trying to change as many entries to fit the style Dr. Obannon wanted, but people would go back and change my edits, so I just tried my best.  I think it would be a good idea to break up the Wikis based on professors to help solve that confusion or organization.  Just a thought! Wiki Wkiki What!?!

Excel(lent)

I turned in my Excel project on Thursday.  I chose to do use state capitals.  The children have a state listed and they need to type in the capital for the state.  If the answer is right "Good" appears and if the answer is wrong "Uh-Oh" appears.  The sheet is a great interactive way to assess students.  Creating the Excel document did not take a long time either.  I think I will use this idea often in my classroom.  I took a screen shot of my Excel document as a visual aid!

iMovie

I have become very frustrated using iMovie.  I tried using the version at the BEC and the version on my laptop but I am still having trouble.   It is good Friday so the library was closed so I will have to wait until Monday to get help on this project.  I cannot wait to turn in the iMovie because of the stress it has caused me.

Inspired by Inspiration

I recently created a graphical organizer about the state structure government using a software program called Inspiration.   The program was very easy to use.  You can see my work above.  The software also had clipart available so it was very easy for me to add the graphics without worrying about copyright infringement. I hope you like my creation!

Picture Perfect

I have learned to be very careful when selecting pictures and images on the Internet. In class, I used a software program, Big Box of Art, to find pictures that are available for use without worrying about copyright infringement. It is nice to know there is a collection of pictures available where I do not have to worry about the rights of the picture. The pictures to the left and right were found in Big Box of Art.

Digital Collection

I recently turned in my digital collection of five various ways to collect digital images. I wa s able to use Picasa to organize my pictures and form an album titled: Digital Collection. My images included: scanned picture, picture from internet, screen shot, picture from software/CD, and a picture from a digital camera. To the right is an image from my digital collection, an image of Strong Hall (west side fire escape) and a beautiful tree taken with a digital camera Fall of 2008.

WebQuest

I had a great time creating my WebQuest with Chloe. We decided on the topic of the life cycle of a frog. Thanks to Dr. Obannon there was a template already in place to guide us along the process which was a huge help.
At first, I had a hard time understanding how everything worked from linking pages within the WebQuest to one another, to linking out into the internet, right down to the format of the WebQuest. I am very pleased with the final product. Feel free to visit the WebQuest Chloe and I created. Leave me feedback if you'd like as well.

File Organization & Digitial Images

After I organized my files for IT 486 it was time to take a picture to show off my wonderful organization skills. In order to take the picture I hit the apple, shift, and four button simultaneously to get a picture box. The picture box is like a cropping tool that can take a picture of a portion of the screen. Then I had to resize my picture in Photoshop. It was exhilarating to take a picture of my craftsmanship. I can see this tool as being very helpful in the educational field.
